A Confused Rooster

The rooster out our bedroom window crowed most of the night away joining in with the occasional pack of barking dogs. We were hopeful that the rooster photographed at the market the next morning might have been one and the same as our compadre.
Gloria found herself up close & personal with an orange grove as we found ourselves on a narrowing single lane ruta in the middle of Maya land. The agriculture was extensive. There were citrus groves, tomatoes, and corn at least 6 ft. tall. It is easy to imagine the rich agricultural heritage of the Maya in this lush valley. Eventually we found ourselves back on our designated “Ruta Puuc” a road that leads thru many archeological sites of the Maya before ending in Uxmal. At the moment we are taking Siesta at the hilltop Iglesia of Santa Elena. It sits atop another Pre-Columbian site and was built from its ruins.
Uxmal was a bust. They have closed it to the public for 2 days... who could know. We made a run into Merida for an RV Park. Tucking in soon but want to find wifi first to get you some views of the day.
