An evening on the Zocolo in Merida

The Cuban National Ballet performed in front of the Cathedral as a near full moon lit the sky. There were thousands of people out to enjoy the free performances. Here are a few photos.

Steve and his sweets

The title is all Pat’s. The young lady at the cell phone kiosk was very kind to have her picture made with an old Gringo. We had just purchased a phone from her with 300 pesos of time for $30, and $11 pesos a minute for calls to U.S. Now we have a way to call home without skype, or worrying about a phone card. We made time for having ice cream and Meringues at the El Colon ice cream shop. Pat had Coco and I had Elote (Corn) sorbet. Yep, you heard it right. Corn sorbet, and it is darn good stuff. This is my favorite ice cream place in all of Mexico and I have tried a lot of them over the years. What a nice day in Merida!
